Mitra appeared as the live-action model of Lara Croft, the lead character of Eidos Interactive's Tomb Raider video game series prior to Angelina Jolie took the role for the two Tomb Raider films (2001-2003). Mitra was ranked as. 46 in Maxim Hot 100 Women of 2001. She played Christopher Lambert's love interest in Beowulf. Inflict love interest of Scott Wolf on Party of Five was her debut main role. Mitra played a small part in Hollow Man, a film about a neighbor who gets killed and raped by Kevin Bacon. Mitra played a major role in the drama about medical treatment Gideon's Crossing, as Alejandra "Ollie" Klein. The characters she played in Ali G Indahouse and Sweet Home Alabama were followed by roles in Stuck on You and Highwaymen. Mitra played Tara Wilson in the finale season of The Practice as Tara Wilson and continued in that role in its spin-off Boston Legal, but left before the end of the season's second. Mitra played the third season's Kit McGraw role on Nip/Tuck in 2005. Mitra was later to be in Skinwalkers, The Number 23 and Shooter.In 2008, Mitra starred in the lead role of the action/science fiction film Doomsday as Major Eden Sinclair (sometimes mistakenly named in some databases as being Caryn Peterson) In 2009, she came to be a part of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans as Sonja, the daughter of the strong vampire older Viktor (played by Bill Nighy). Mitra grew fondly of her vampire fangs during filming. They even refused to remove them when they were difficult to see. "I put those fangs in the first day. I thought it was odd to have them there. They stayed in throughout the duration of shooting, all through my dialogue and everything." Stargate Universe also included her in three episodes.
